A radiator is a steel panel full of water, connected by two valves to a pair of pipes. Norbert covers everything between the flow and the return across Kent, Medway, Surrey, Sussex and south-east London.

A leaking radiator is almost never leaking where the puddle is. Water runs along the valve and pipe before dripping, so the first job is finding the real source.

Old radiators corrode from the inside, and a panel that has pinholed or gone brown at the seams is on its way out. A new one can be the same size, larger or a different style.

Seized valves, snapped lockshields and thermostatic valves stuck shut are common on radiators left alone for years. These small jobs fit alongside any other general plumbing services on the same visit.

Emergency call-out1
Plumber, start to finishTracing a leak to the valve, the tail, the pipe joint or the radiator itself, and repairing whichever has failed.
Replacing seized, stiff or leaking radiator valves and lockshields, including swapping to thermostatic radiator valves.
Taking off a corroded or pinholed radiator and fitting a new one, adapting the pipework where the sizes differ.
Fitting an additional radiator or moving one to a different wall, with the pipework run to suit.
Venting trapped air and working out why a radiator stays cold at the top, bottom or all over.
No call centre and no hand-offs. The same man takes the call, quotes the work and does it.
Tell Norbert what is happening. He rings back himself to ask the questions that matter before anyone drives out.
He looks at the job, explains what has failed and what the fix involves, and gives you the quote before work starts.
Fixed, tested and cleaned up, with a one year warranty on parts and labour for the work he has done.

Most valve leaks come from the gland around the spindle, which dries out and lets water weep past, or from the compression nut where the valve meets the pipe or the radiator tail. Sometimes a gentle tighten is enough. If the gland is worn or the olive has deformed, the valve needs repacking or replacing, which means draining down that part of the system first.
Usually not. A leak from the panel itself, normally a pinhole along a seam, is corrosion from the inside, and where one pinhole has appeared others tend to follow. Sealants rarely give a lasting fix. Replacing the radiator is the dependable repair. If the leak is at a valve or joint instead, that is a much smaller job and well worth fixing.
That pattern almost always means air trapped at the top of the radiator. Bleeding it through the vent at the top corner lets the air out so water can fill the whole panel. If it keeps coming back quickly, there may be a small leak elsewhere letting air in, or a pressure problem worth having looked at.
Yes. A new radiator rarely lines up exactly with the old pipe centres, so Norbert adapts the pipework or fits valve extensions to suit. Going bigger or choosing a different style is possible, as long as the pipework can supply it. He will point out anything about the wall, such as a stud partition, that affects how a heavier radiator is fixed.
The usual causes are a stuck thermostatic valve pin, a lockshield valve closed too far, or air in that radiator. Each is plumbing work on the radiator itself and usually a quick fix. If every radiator in the house is cold, the problem is more likely to be with what heats the water, and that is a job for a gas engineer rather than a plumber.
No. Vision Plumbing does no gas or boiler work of any kind. Radiator work covers the radiators, their valves and the pipes that feed them. If a fault turns out to be with the appliance that heats the system, you will need a registered gas engineer for it, and Norbert will say so plainly rather than attempt it.
A line about the job is enough. Norbert reads every enquiry himself and rings you back to talk it through before he quotes.
