01What does a general plumbing call-out cover?
Most of what goes wrong with the water in a house: leaks, dripping taps, running toilets, seized valves, failed showers, radiator valves, blocked wastes and hot water faults on immersion heaters and unvented cylinders. Norbert looks at the problem, tells you what has failed and what he suggests, and gives you a quick quote before any work starts. Bigger drainage and leak-finding jobs use his own specialist kit rather than a second contractor.
02Will the person who quotes the job be the one who does it?
Yes. Vision Plumbing is Norbert, a sole trader, so there is no dispatch list and no stranger arriving on the day. The plumber who asks the questions on the phone, looks at the problem and gives the quote is the same plumber who turns up with the tools and finishes the job. If something needs looking at again later, you ring the same number and reach the same man.
03What does the one year warranty cover?
It covers both the parts Norbert fits and his labour for a year from the date of the work. If a valve he fitted fails or a joint he made starts to weep within that year, he comes back and puts it right. It is the only guarantee Vision Plumbing offers, and it applies to every job, from a tap washer to a new cylinder.
04Does Vision Plumbing do gas or boiler work?
No. Vision Plumbing does no gas work of any kind, so nothing involving gas appliances, gas pipework or gas certificates. Norbert works on the water side of a property: supply pipes, taps, toilets, radiators and their valves, showers, drains and hot water cylinders. For anything involving gas you will need a registered gas engineer, and it is better to know that before you ring than after.
05How far does Norbert travel for a plumbing job?
He is based around Sevenoaks and covers Kent, Medway, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and south-east London, roughly an hour's drive from base. If you are near the edge of that area, ring and ask. He would rather tell you honestly on the phone that you are too far out than arrive late to a job he cannot give proper attention to.
06How long does a typical plumbing repair take?
Most small repairs, such as a tap, a cistern valve or a leaking joint, are done in a single visit, often within an hour or two once Norbert is on site. Jobs that need a part ordered in, or larger work such as a cylinder replacement, are planned in advance so you know how long the water will be off and when he expects to finish.
