The same man who provides the 24-hour [emergency plumber in Sevenoaks](https://visionplumbing.co.uk/resources/emergency-plumber-sevenoaks/) runs the camera, with over 20 years in plumbing behind him. Ring Norbert on 07379 636676, say what the survey is for, and ask for a quote. ## What Decides the Scope of a Survey The scope of a CCTV drain survey in Sevenoaks is set by the drainage itself: how many access points there are, how long the runs are, and what the survey is for. A detached house with one inspection chamber and a short run to the sewer is a small job. A large period house with several chambers, a separate run for rainwater and a long connection under a drive is a bigger one. The purpose matters too. A pre-purchase survey covers the whole system. A survey after a repeat blockage concentrates on the length that keeps failing. One thing has to happen first. If the drain is blocked, it is cleared before the camera goes in. A camera pushed into standing water records nothing useful. Access is the other variable. Chambers buried under paving or lost under a lawn have to be found and lifted. Where there is no chamber at all, the camera can often go in through a gully or a rodding eye instead. That is settled on the phone, before the visit. **Ask Vision Plumbing for a quote on CCTV Drain Surveys in Sevenoaks: tell Norbert how many chambers you can find and what the survey needs to answer.** [Quick Quote Online](#quote)[Call Now: 07379 636676](tel:+447379636676) ## What the Survey Includes in Sevenoaks A CCTV drain survey in Sevenoaks covers every run that can be reached from the property's own access points, recorded from end to end. A full [drainage survey](https://visionplumbing.co.uk/services/cctv-drain-surveys/) includes: - lifting and inspecting each chamber, noting the benching and the channels - a camera run along each length of pipe, in both directions where one direction is blocked - the distance to every defect, read from the camera cable - the direction of flow and where each run connects - the recorded footage, kept for the report The list matters because a survey is only as good as its coverage. A camera that looks at the first few metres from one chamber and stops has not surveyed a drain. Norbert owns and runs the survey camera himself, so the person who saw the defect is the person who writes it up. ## Common Drain Defects Found in Sevenoaks The defects a CCTV survey finds in Sevenoaks follow the age of the housing, and the town has a lot of Victorian, Edwardian and inter-war stock. Older drains are usually clay pipe laid in short lengths with a joint every metre or so. Each joint is a weak point. The common findings are: - displaced joints, where one length has moved off the next and catches paper and waste - cracks and fractures, often from ground movement or heavy vehicles over a drive - root ingress, where fine roots enter at a joint and grow into a mat - sags, where a length has settled and holds standing water - collapses, where the pipe has lost its shape entirely - fat and scale building up on the pipe wall Knowing which defect it is decides the repair. A displaced joint or a single crack can usually be patch lined from inside. A collapse cannot. ## Written Report and CCTV Footage Every CCTV drain survey in Sevenoaks ends with a written report and the recorded footage, not a verbal opinion given at the door. The report sets out each run surveyed, where it starts and finishes, and every defect found with its distance from the chamber. It says what the defect is, how serious it is, and what the repair options are. Where a no-dig repair will work, it says so. Where only excavation will do, it says that and explains why. The footage is what makes the report checkable. A buyer can show it to a solicitor. A homeowner can show it to a neighbour who shares the run. A landlord can keep it on file. Nobody has to take the findings on trust. ## When You Need a Survey A CCTV drain survey in Sevenoaks earns its place in four situations, and each one asks a slightly different question of the drain. Before buying. Sevenoaks is a historic and expensive place to buy a house, and older drains are one of the things a standard building survey does not look inside. A pre-purchase survey tells you what you are taking on. After a repeat blockage. A drain that blocks twice has a cause, and the camera finds it. When there is a dispute. Shared runs, damage after building work and insurance questions all turn on what the pipe actually looks like, and the footage shows it. Before building over or beside a drain. An extension or a new patio should not go down over a pipe nobody has looked at. If you are looking for a drain survey near you in Sevenoaks, the useful test is simple: ask who will run the camera and who will write the report. Here it is one person. ## How the Inspection Works The CCTV inspection in Sevenoaks runs in a fixed order so that nothing is missed and every length is recorded once. - First, the chambers are located and lifted, and the flow is checked with a tap or a flush. - Next, any blockage is cleared with rods or jetting so the camera has a clear pipe. - Then the camera is pushed along each run from the chamber, recording continuously. - Each defect is logged with its distance, and difficult sections are filmed again from the other end. - Afterwards the chambers are closed and the site is left as it was found. - Last, the written report and footage follow, with the repair options set out. Most of the visit is spent at the chambers, not inside the house. Nothing is dug and nothing is lifted beyond the chamber covers. Every repair that follows carries a one year warranty on parts and labour. **Ask Vision Plumbing for a quote on CCTV Drain Surveys in Sevenoaks: tell Norbert how many chambers you can find and what the survey needs to answer.** [Quick Quote Online](#quote)[Call Now: 07379 636676](tel:+447379636676) - [Home](https://visionplumbing.co.uk/) - [Resources](https://visionplumbing.co.uk/resources/) - CCTV Drain Surveys in Sevenoaks #### On This Page #### Need A Hand With This? For an older Sevenoaks house it is worth it, because a standard building survey does not look inside the drains. A CCTV survey shows the condition of every run before you commit. ### 02What defects can a CCTV drain survey find in Sevenoaks? In Sevenoaks the common findings are displaced joints, cracks, root ingress, sags holding water and collapsed sections, each logged with its distance from the chamber. ### 03Will I get video and a written report? Yes, every Sevenoaks survey comes with the recorded footage and a written report setting out each defect and the repair options. ## Related resources - Drain unblocking in Sevenoaks: blockages cleared with rods and jetting, drains surveyed by CCTV and repaired dig or no-dig by Norbert. 24-hour call-out.[Drain Unblocking in Sevenoaks](https://visionplumbing.co.uk/resources/drain-unblocking-sevenoaks/) - Emergency plumber in Sevenoaks with a 24-hour call-out: Norbert answers the phone himself, stops the leak and repairs it properly.
